P1 Nuclear Division awarded largest project to date

Wolf-Creek-2010-ESW-AGPRP

BURLINGTON, Kan. – The P1 Group, Inc., Nuclear Division has been awarded the single largest competitively-bid project to date, the Essential Service Water (ESW) Above Ground Pipe Replacement Project (AGPRP) at Wolf Creek Generating Station.

The work is in support of Wolf Creek’s 20th refueling outage, which is scheduled from Feb. 28 through April 15, 2015. P1 Group, Inc. will provide all of the necessary staff and skilled craft personnel to implement the ESW AGPRP project and outage scope of work.

  • P1 will provide a peak onsite crew of approximately 120 craft, which includes welders, pipefitters and apprentices.
  • A management team of approximately 40 P1 Group staff personnel will provide project management, safety, supervision, project controls and work package planning support to complete the scope of work on this project.
  • Pipe and pipe support pre-fabrication of approximately 880 linear feet of new ESW pipe, ranging between ½” and 30” in diameter, will begin immediately at the site.
  • Demolition and removal of existing ESW pipe and supports.
  • Installation of new pipe and supports will take place within the Auxiliary, Control and Reactor Building during the scheduled outage timeframes.

Wolf Creek Generating Station is Kansas’ only nuclear power plant and has been providing energy to Kansas and Missouri since 1985. The plant generates about 1,200 megawatt electrical, which is enough energy for approximately 800,000 homes.
